At Stonewall Resort this past weekend, Chef Ke walked away with more than just applause—she earned First Place and a $3,000 prize at the West Virginia Women in Agriculture Business Pitch Competition, hosted by WVU Extension.

Representing Keekreationzzz LLC, Chef Ke shared her vision for a more inclusive and educational farm-to-table future in West Virginia—one where minority and small urban farmers have access to agricultural education, resources, and the visibility they deserve.

“When you look like me in West Virginia, it’s hard for the powers that be to see an African American woman with so much impact, drive, and success,” Chef Ke reflected. “I’m grateful to walk in my purpose by uplifting my community, moving with purpose, and showing just how much representation matters.”

Her pitch focused on connecting agriculture, education, and culinary arts, expanding her mission beyond the kitchen and into the field. From teaching youth and families about local food systems to hosting farm-to-fork dinners that highlight Black growers, Chef Ke continues to redefine what leadership in Appalachian agriculture looks like.

The WVU Extension Women in Agriculture program celebrates women who are innovating across the state’s food and farming systems. Chef Ke’s win underscores the growing impact of Black chefs and farmers shaping the narrative of sustainability, wellness, and community through their work.

“Even when you deserve a seat at the table, they’ll count you out,” she posted after the event. “Cut the check.”

And this time — they did.
