Award Process and Priority

Scholarships are awarded up to $3,000 each academic year, with the number of scholarships depending on available funding from the West Virginia State Legislature. Priority is given to current WV STEM recipients and college students, followed by high school students. High school awards are based on GPA and standardized test scores. Homeschool and private high school students must submit a Grade Report Form and transcripts. West Virginia residents also receive priority in the selection process.

Scholarship Renewal

WV STEM Scholarships can be renewed for up to 4 years (3 years after the initial award). Renewal applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA and reapply annually before the March 1 deadline. The application process opens each year on October 1.
