BBG Black Business Spotlight: Herb’s Hauling & Moving

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Herb’s Hauling & Moving isn’t a business that started with a grand opening or a marketing campaign. It started with people calling, asking for help — and trusting that help would come.

BBG spoke with Anthony Herbet, owner of Herb’s Hauling & Moving, who shared that after his father passed away in 2020, something unexpected happened. The phone kept ringing. Community members who had relied on his father continued reaching out, asking for hauling and moving services — and Anthony answered.

What began as stepping in to meet a need became a business built on reputation, reliability, and word-of-mouth trust.

Based in Charles Town, West Virginia, Herb’s Hauling & Moving provides hauling, moving, and clean-out services — the kind of essential, hands-on work that supports families during transitions, helps seniors and homeowners manage heavy lifting, and keeps homes and properties moving forward.

There’s no flash here — just consistency. Jobs get done. Commitments are honored. And customers know who they’re calling when they need real help, not excuses.

As a Black-owned business in the Eastern Panhandle, Herb’s Hauling & Moving reflects a larger truth about Black entrepreneurship in West Virginia: many businesses grow not from capital or exposure, but from community trust passed down over time.

That’s why BBG selected Herb’s Hauling & Moving for the February 2026 Black Business Spotlight and inclusion in our Black on the Map Directory. This series exists to recognize businesses that are rooted, resilient, and serving their communities every day — often without recognition.

Supporting Black-owned businesses means supporting the people who show up when it counts.
