Virtual Student Town Hall Addresses Campus Carry Legislation
As the world continues to grapple with issues surrounding gun control, the subject of campus carry has become a highly debated topic in the US. In light of this, two prominent West Virginia student leaders, Aliyah Crozier and Keeley Wildman, have come together to host a virtual town hall to discuss the impact of campus carry legislation on students. The town hall, which takes place on Thursday, February 9th at 6pm, will serve as a platform for students to voice their concerns and learn about the latest updates on this important issue.
The West Virginia State Senate recently passed the Campus Self-Defense Act (Senate Bill 10), which permits firearms on public college and university campuses for those with a valid concealed carry permit, the impact of this legislation on students has become a topic of heated debate.
To address this controversial issue,Crozier and Wildman, are coming together to host a virtual town hall Thursday, February 9th at 6pm, the virtual town hall will provide a platform for students to express their opinions and learn about the latest updates on campus carry. Both sides of the argument will be addressed, with those in favor of campus carry claiming it will increase safety and those opposed believing it will escalate violence.
As the newly appointed President of Black United Students at Marshall University, Aliyah Crozier is determined to use her platform to bring attention to this important issue. A passionate and dedicated leader, Aliyah is a powerful advocate for marginalized communities and her appointment is a testament to her hard work and commitment to social justice.

The virtual town hall is supported by several organizations, including Young WV, West Virginia Citizen Action Group, The Campaign to Keep Guns off Campus, Rise Up WV, and WV FREE. These organizations, dedicated to protecting the rights and safety of students, have come together to make this event a success and provide a platform for students to have their voices heard.
We encourage you to support high school and college students from across the country who are teaming up with each other in the Everytown for Gun Safety’s Students Demand Action gun violence prevention movement!
