I Rode West Virginia’s First Mountain Coaster — And It Was Awesome!

This summer, I got to do something super cool—I rode West Virginia’s very first mountain coaster! My big sister Jayli (she’s 13), my mom, and my dad all went with me. We took a trip with Black By God to Brush Creek Holl’r in Mercer County. It was one of the best days ever!
When we first got there, I felt excited… and a little nervous too. I’d never seen a roller coaster built right on the side of a mountain before. First, the coaster pulls you way, way up to the top of a hill. Then you zoom back down really fast with lots of twists and turns through the trees.
The best part? You get to control how fast or slow you go! There’s a lever in your cart—push it forward to go faster, pull it back to slow down. I liked going fast… but not too fast. Jayli said it felt like a video game ride, and she wishes we had more rides like this in West Virginia. I think so too!
After the ride, we went inside and found an arcade (with games!) and ice cream. There’s also a gift shop and a party room. So basically, it’s the perfect place to bring your friends or family.
My Favorite Things:
🎮 You control your own speed
🎢 It goes up a mountain and zooms back down
🎮 The turns feel like you’re in a video game
🍦 Ice cream + arcade = the best combo ever
Tips for Kids (and Parents!):
🎟️ Tickets cost around $16 for kids and $19 for adults
🔁 You can ride again for a lower price if you want a second go
❄️ They’re open all year—even in the snow! They put covers over the carts to keep you warm
Final Thoughts from Me:
The mountain coaster was super fun, a little wild, and something I’ll never forget. If you’ve never been on a ride like this, I think you should totally try it. I’m really glad I got to go this summer!
