Celebrating Pivotal Moments in Our History
We’re happy to share that our newest print edition will have the widest distribution yet, and will include almost 50 pages, full of original content!
This issue centers Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the United States and the enduring spirit of freedom and Black excellence. We’re sharing events and ways you can celebrate!
Additionally, we highlight the importance of recognizing West Virginia Freedom Day on February 3, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved individuals in 1865. This issue will highlight the plight of African Americans in West Virginia as we move forward with our freedom. As we put this edition together, it’s clear that our contributors are part of building that future.
Our commitment to sharing accurate history and honoring our heritage is at the forefront of this issue.
And it’s your support that helps us make this milestone possible.
As we approach Juneteenth we are seeking your financial support because contributions from our readers have a tangible impact on what BBG is able to accomplish!
Will you join us in celebrating these pivotal moments in our history
Your generosity makes a material difference to our newsroom! Funding from our community goes right back into our reporting.
We’re digging into Black business, agriculture, tech, economics and more — we want to keep sharing these stories and amplifying Black West Virginia. And you can help make it a reality with a donation today!
Thank you for reading and supporting the Black press.
