BBG’s ‘Whose the Dandiest?’ Contest Celebrates Black Dandyism in the Heart of Appalachia

The “Whose the Dandiest?” contest, presented by Black By God (BBG), is a vibrant celebration of Black Dandyism in Appalachia. Running from April 28 to May 5, 2025, this week-long event invites participants to showcase their interpretations of Black Dandyism—a tradition where fashion becomes a form of resistance, refinement, and reclamation.​

Dandyism is often misunderstood as mere vanity. Historically, it emerged as a philosophy of refinement—a belief in the transformative power of style, poise, and individuality.
