West Virginia’s always known when something’s coming before the rest of the country wants to admit it. We are America’s canary in the coal mine. An abandoned coal town. An empty Walmart. We’ve seen the warning signs up close. But knowing what’s coming isn’t the same as knowing how to survive it. That takes imagination.

What object would you save if you could only save one thing?

That’s the question Natasha Marin wants you to sit with and then write your way through. Marin, the conceptual artist behind BLACK IMAGINATION and the viral global project Reparations, is opening enrollment for THE APOCALYPSE SCHOOL: an actual school for writing your way through the end of the world.

Based in Seattle, the school is built on the idea that imagination is a survival skill and that surviving doesn’t mean disappearing or letting fear write the ending for you.
