Farmer Forums Organized to Address Market Disruptions

In response to recent disruptions in agricultural marketing channels, Mountain State Co-Hops and the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition (WFFFC) are organizing a series of virtual forums aimed at assisting farmers who have experienced cancelled or reduced contracts.

The forums are scheduled to take place on three consecutive Thursdays: May 1, 8, and 15, at 8:00 PM. The event is specifically directed toward farmers affected by the loss or reduction of Farm-to-School and Farm-to-Foodbank agreements.

According to an announcement distributed to farmers, the initiative is intended to help move product and connect producers with new markets. Participants are encouraged to share information about what they are currently producing so that organizers can assist in identifying potential buyers.

Mountain State Co-Hops and WFFFC are collaborating on this effort as part of a broader strategy to support local food systems. Registration is required to attend the forums.
