Hey, West V! Fall is coming, but sweaters and boots can stay in the closet longer. Early-fall fashion is about outfits that are comfortable for school but still show your personality.
In these photos, you can see the relaxed style teens are wearing now: loose jeans, a denim cargo skirt, graphic T-shirts, sneakers, backpacks and accessories. The outfits look comfortable, but they are not boring.
What girls are wearing
- Denim skirts and loose jeans
- Cropped or fitted graphic tees
- Everyday sneakers
- Backpacks in soft or neutral colors
- Small statement bags and simple jewelry
A graphic tee and denim bottom can become a complete outfit when you add something fun. In my outfit, the gold bow bag gives the look extra personality without taking it over.
What guys are wearing
- Graphic and logo T-shirts
- Relaxed jeans, shorts or joggers
- Black or neutral sneakers
- Chains and other simple jewelry
- Backpacks for a school-ready finish
For guys, the look is relaxed and easy. A graphic tee can show a brand, artist, team or interest. The jeans, shorts and joggers keep it casual, while sneakers and a chain help pull everything together.
Teen Vogue’s 2026 denim coverage says relaxed jeans and wider styles are trending. That matches what teens are wearing in West Virginia and across the country.
These outfits also work for our early-fall weather. It may be cool before school and hot by lunch. When the temperature drops, add a hoodie, denim jacket or light sweater without changing the look.
You do not need a new wardrobe to be stylish. Start with clothes you already have, then change the shoes, add an accessory or try a different denim style.
Trends can give you ideas, but the best outfits show who you are. This fall, comfort, confidence and personality are all in style.
