We have now lived to see the AI boom.

The AI Boom refers to the time we live in right now.

We are seeing Artificial Intelligence not only being created, but being put into practice.

Remember when computers came around and they changed the world forever?

That’s what the AI boom is. In a short time, we’ve seen a giant leap in machine learning and its access to the general population.

We’re seeing companies employ brand new computer programs that promise cutting costs.

But is it good for the living? Let’s get into it.

Working with AI can be amazing.

I’ve been using it for a while. You can do incredible things. You can learn so much.

Of course, you need to always make sure it is giving you the correct information, but I enjoy how ChatGPT talks to me like a person.

When I need something explained, I go to ChatGPT.

Here. I even posted my ChatGPT prompt I used on my LinkedIn.

But how long has AI actually been around?

The answer might surprise you.

Do you remember Clippy from Microsoft’s Word? That was AI. Clippy was AI. He would ask you questions about what you wanted to do next.

Of course, a lot of times he was annoying too. However, Clippy holds a special place in my nerdy heart.

Do you know what else is AI? Autocorrect.

Autocorrect takes the dictionary you use, and based on patterns and the more information you personally input, “corrects” what it thinks you mean. As you use your phone, it gets used to your lexicon. Just like anything, as you put in more information, the program works better and better.

But anybody who has used autocorrect knows there are a lot of errors all the time. Because no matter how hard we try, a computer program is not a person.

But autocorrect has changed our lives for the better, I would say. For Good. (Yes, that’s a Wicked reference. I cannot wait for the movie.)

Here’s where I want to be clear about businesses employing AI.

You do realize to have a working economy you need to have money flowing through it, right? The economy is like a living being itself. It needs air. It needs blood. It needs upkeep. It’s a cycle. 

When there is too much or too little in a cycle, it doesn’t work as clean or effieciently. It’s just like a car engine.

Given the state of the economy now where many families are just getting by on credit cards, how healthy do you think it is to cut money going to humans?

One of the key issues are dockworkers unions have been fighting is about automation.

I reported on it with BBG last month when there was only a short stoppage. Again, they’re fighting against automation.

Our human dockworkers want a pay raise and don’t want replaced by cranes. I don’t blame them. I don’t want cranes to be replacing humans who can handle those containers with care. I also want those humans to have good medical care so they can keep their bodies and families healthy.

Some of those men are my friends.

Remember, humans input money into the economy to keep it healthy and growing. Can AI do that? Does AI put money back into the economy or just save businesses money? Does AI take family trips and spend on lodging and food? If you cut out extra spending in households (that is already minuscule in many cases), you’re cutting out extra income for leisure activities that could help your local economy.

I think when we look at artificial intelligence, we need to look at the pro and con of the economy; not just businesses.

It’s silly to think the economy only grows when 5 businesses do. I don’t think I’m even that smart but I know that doesn’t make a lick of sense if we don’t see money trickling down. I did pay attention when I read Adam Smith.

Rather than I don’t know, just getting rid of the prior authorization method that the American Healthcare System employs, it is touting its ability to automate Prior Authorizations. Many medical companies are excited.

It just goes to show that if there’s money to be made, someone is going to try to make it rather than change it. Why not do away with prior authorization protocol in the first place? We have been experiencing problems from prior authorizations for years already.

Didn’t I already reference this article about how insurers were already using AI to deny people care?

Getting an automatic denial doesn’t seem like it would do sick people much help. It seems like it would cut costs for companies since you are obviously paying out less to clients and patients, yes. But helping people?

Yes I know the point of a business is to make money. But can we do it ethically? Or at least without harming people or their quality of care?

While I enjoy artificial intelligence and what it can do for us as individuals, I think we need to be more critical of companies as they talk about purchasing AI programs.


My bet is we will see more legacy media writing pieces about how great Automation is, because that’s what’s the businesses want. So be wary of what you read and why it’s been written, friends.

They’re really trying to think of different ways to say “Let’s not pay people for work that could in turn help our economy.”

That doesn’t sound very intelligent to me. It actually seems kind of…. well, I’ll let The Beast say it.

Businesses: Just say you don’t want to pay people. You’d rather purchase machine programs that make mistakes.

For ducks sake.
