Chili Night Returns to Beckley, Black By God joins nearly 60 entrants

BECKLEY, W.Va. – Chili Night returns to Beckley Saturday, Oct. 3, and with our special recipes prepared with love and yumminess by our very own Jai Dyer, Black By God will be there to help fill your belly!

For your consideration (and we don’t think you’ll be considering very long), Jai is preparing two mouth-watering chili entrees. First, her internationally famous “White Chick Chili,” a chicken chili, which serves as a pollotarian (no red meat) option. And for those chili connoisseurs who prefer meat in their meat, Jai will have her universally renowned “Curried Goat Chili,” with fresh goat meat provided by our friends at T&T Organics.

In addition to our two competition chili entrees, Black By God will be sampling Mama’s Meat Sauce. All new BBG merch will be stocked up and ready for purchase, and we will be raffling off a Black By God gift assortment to one lucky winner. Raffle winner will receive a one-year subscription to BBG’s print edition, and a BBG t-shirt. In addition, a chance to win admission for two to the Oct. 17 Pink Party R&B Soul Bingo, and admission for two to the Oct. 18 Hallelujah Bingo is available. Oct. 17 and 18 “Bingo Weekend” events are part of Black By God’s partnership with Eric Easley’s Do Something Different (DSD) initiative, and feature BBG’s original trivia highlighting West Virginia’s Black musicians.

The cook-off begins at 4 p.m., and with nearly 60 different recipes entered, there is sure to be something to satisfy every taste bud. Judging takes place at 6:30, and BBG will draw and announce our raffle winner immediately following. BBG’s chili tent is located directly beside the Cardinal Stage.
