WV-native and former American Medical Association President to speak at Marshall
Dr. Patrice Harris, former AMA President, keynotes the Marshall Minority Health Institute’s Youth Early Diversion Conference at Marshall University.
Dr. Patrice Harris, MD, the immediate Past President of the American Medical Association, will speak at Marshall University on Thursday morning. Harris is a native of Bluefield and a West Virginia University grad.
The Marshall Minority Health Institute will host its second annual Youth Early Diversion Conference at the Student Center (Don Morris Room) on Thursday. The conference will focus on resources, options for better health, recidivism, but most importantly, avoidance of hinderances to healthy communities in West Virginia.
Dr. Harris was at the helm of the American Medical Association during the COVID-19 pandemic and was a consistent and visible voice for sound medical choices during that difficult time. Her address will kickoff the event at 9:00a.
The American Medical Association is the largest organization of medical professionals in the United States. She was the first female African American in the organization’s history.
